Bill Savage, the district’s facilities consultant, asked trustees to concur with a new schematic configuration for the main building so architects can finish schematic design and the district can obtain a cost estimate before advancing to construction procurement. "We're looking for concurrence with the board to proceed with the configuration option that we have," Savage said, explaining the district will return with a final schematic package and cost estimate before seeking approval to move into the next phase.
Savage said the configuration reflects staff and community input and that the plan would consolidate several main-building projects into a single contract to streamline delivery. He outlined a plan to initiate a lease–leaseback selection process if the schematic documents and estimates fall within the updated project budget. Board members indicated agreement to advance schematic design and return for the next formal approvals and cost review.
