PTAs describe heavy spending and unmet after‑school demand at Sunnyvale schools

"Between the two programs, 54.2% still needed partial or full scholarships from our already subsidized prices," Durecki said, describing a lottery system used when demand exceeded available slots.
Courtney Jansen, a parent, described how limited programs affect families’ work schedules and said she planned to pull her children from after‑school activities next week because of capacity and scheduling mismatches. Board members and staff acknowledged the strain and discussed how district planning and partnerships might help scale programs; no formal district funding decisions were made at the meeting.
