Dorese Pandero, outreach coordinator for CASA of Solano County, announced a Pinwheels for Prevention event at the Fairfield City Hall campus on April 7 at 9 a.m., and invited volunteers to help place pinwheels on the lawn. "Into 2024, there were 1001 allegations reported," Pandero said, and she asked for help placing 251 pinwheels to represent calls for help. Soila Perez Sanchez, child abuse prevention coordinator, described three main April events including pinwheel plantings at police departments and a Children's Flag Memorial Ceremony at the county health and social services building on April 25 at noon.
Dr. Nikki Parr, identified in the meeting as president of the Child Abuse Prevention Council, urged attendance at the events and described the council's role coordinating services and remembrance activities. The board accepted and presented the proclamation; CASA and the Child Abuse Prevention Council will continue outreach coordination with county staff.
