Members of the Budget Committee approved adjustments in the Highway Fund on May 19 to cover deferred and anticipated maintenance. The Repairs and Maintenance: Facilities and Equipment line was increased by $5,000 to $25,000 to replace roofing on one of the rest-area kiosks; $5,000 was added to the Picnic Table Shelter capital outlay line to carry forward unspent funds from the current fiscal year; and an $8,000 Riding Mowers line was created to purchase two riding mowers.
Committee members discussed the type of mowers needed and the timing of the purchases. The minutes state the additions were made to ensure facilities and equipment needs could be met in the coming year, and the funds were stepped into the proposed FY2026–27 budget accordingly.
The committee recessed later in the meeting and will revisit budget items, if needed, at the scheduled June 4, 2026 meeting.
