Kenyon-Wanamingo school board accepts ventilation-improvement bids, approves contractor awards

The Kenyon-Wanamingo School District board voted 6-0 to accept contractor bids recommended by SiteLogic for a 2026 ventilation-improvement project, approving the awards that staff had highlighted as their recommendation.

Board discussion and staff presentation named Webb Construction as the recommended general contractor and listed subcontractors for mechanical and electrical work; staff stated Chapel Central was recommended for mechanical work (cited in discussion as $2,965,000). Staff also recommended accepting a copper wiring alternate rather than aluminum to match the existing systems. "We should accept copper and be contiguous with everything else," the presenting staff member said.

The motion to accept the bids was recorded as coming from Erica Aronson and seconded by Tanya Craig; the chair conducted a roll-call vote. The chair announced the motion carried, "6 to 0." Staff said it would notify contractors through the meeting minutes, prepare purchase orders and place equipment orders; they noted no payment will be made until equipment arrives in Minneapolis.

Staff also described testing and balancing work that the electrical/mechanical contractors would perform to ensure appropriate airflow and controls, and noted that special inspections were included in the recommendation. The board did not take further substantive action beyond awarding the contracts and directing staff to proceed with procurement and administrative steps.
