The board unanimously adopted Resolution 24‑25‑18 proclaiming February as Black and African American History Month and encouraged participation by students, staff and families in learning activities. Trustees took turns reading the resolution's whereas clauses and emphasized the district's commitment to inclusion.
Denise Kent Romo, speaking as a former trustee and community member, thanked the current board for returning resolutions recognizing student groups and celebrating diversity to the agenda. "It was so refreshing to see a resolution for students on this agenda," Romo said during public comment.
