The district's Measure J bond program will move from design to early field testing this summer, Bill Savage, the bond implementation consultant, told the board on April 26. Savage said architects are finishing design‑development drawings, Landmark Construction has begun preconstruction services, and teams will take concrete cores and rebar and send samples to labs to assess the 100‑year building's foundations and structural elements.
Savage also reported the district's most recent bond sale deposited a net $3,716,000 into the building fund after issuance costs. Trustees discussed the schedule for summer work, fencing and noisy activities, and the need to coordinate with staff so school operations can continue. The board heard that FEMA mitigation funding is still pending for portable/classroom replacement work; staff said they have submitted documentation and are exchanging materials with FEMA but warned that FEMA's future funding posture introduces uncertainty for those specific replacement projects.
