Maria Tovar reported a new case for 7505 Muni Avenue where exterior alterations — including a replaced entrance door, side windows and an enlarged driveway — were performed without required permits. She said a citation had been issued; permits for the door and window were later obtained but the driveway permit remained outstanding.
The owner's daughter, Daniela, told the magistrate the general contractor who had been paid to pull permits disappeared and left the family without necessary filings. "We paid him, and he said he was gonna be in charge of all the permits, and he's disappeared," Daniela said, requesting an extension without additional fines so the family could obtain the engineering letter for the driveway.
Magistrate Regine Monestein granted a 30‑day extension and declined to institute fines at this time, but warned that fines could begin if the family fails to make progress after 30 days. The magistrate instructed the owner to keep in contact with Maria Tovar and other building staff while pursuing the remaining paperwork.
