Members and participants reported that, when the parade reached the staging area, police would not allow them to enter at the planned Davis Street access point. The Chair described long delays and said honor guard members had to move the gate themselves so buses and vehicles could unload.
"When we got down to the parade area, the police would not let us in," the Chair said. A staff member responded that they would follow up with staff and find out what happened so it does not recur next year. Riders present said this has been a recurring problem for several years.
Staff committed to investigating the access and staging procedures and to coordinating with police and parade organizers before next year's event.
