District presents local indicators for California dashboard; CAASPP results to post Oct. 15

Bonnie Tom, coordinator of academic accountability, presented Bellflower Unified's local indicators as part of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) process. Tom reported that 95% of teachers are fully credentialed and that 5% are partially credentialed (intern or similar). Facility inspection (FIT) results showed 95% of schools rated 'good' and 5% 'exemplary' under the FIT scoring bands. District staff also said a 3% increase in second‑grade students reading at grade level was recorded and that parent engagement metrics rose on several measures.
Trustees asked for trend data and more detail on interventions. One trustee requested five‑year trend lines for foundational reading results; staff said they will add that to a Friday memo. Tom emphasized that the state will publicly release both the California School Dashboard and CAASPP results on or before Oct. 15, 2026, marking the first time the state will publish them together.
