Council approves contract for Benrooks Skate Park parking lot and restroom

He told the council that "we have had some, real success working with those folks, over the years" and that the Colacruccio brothers submitted the low bid of $310,000. Mr. Fox added the CXT restroom unit will cost "another 190 plus or minus," putting the total project cost at about $570,000.
The council asked practical questions about signage and accessibility. Council Member Hunt asked whether there would be an opportunity to add signage tying the lot into Thompson Trail wayfinding; Mr. Fox said staff can coordinate signage. Council Member Fantini confirmed that required ADA parking spaces would be provided adjacent to the lot.
Council Member Fantini moved to approve the contract award "as presented," the motion was seconded, and the council voted in favor. Mayor Walters announced the ayes had it and the contract award was approved.
The contract award uses funds previously identified from the sale of city property; council discussion did not list a separate contract number in the meeting record. Staff described the next steps as proceeding to construction and coordinating signage and ADA parking as shown on the project plan.
