School district to redistribute Northgate students to Otts Road stops; bus stops no longer hinge on Northgate dedication

Township Manager Anne Klepfer told the board that the School Transportation Department will redistribute Northgate-area students to bus stops on Otts Road for the 2025-2026 school year, removing bus-stop placement as a deciding factor in whether Northgate Blvd. should be dedicated to the township.
The minutes state the district originally urged dedication so bus stops could be added inside the Northgate community, but a review of Northgate's "boulevard" design, with landscaped islands separating directions, showed the roadway is not suitable for bus stops. As a result, the district will focus on redistributing students to Otts Road for the coming school year. The board therefore considered school bus stops no longer a material factor in the dedication decision.
Why it matters: relocating stops may change parent drop-off patterns and walking distances for students in the Northgate development for the 2025-2026 school year. The decision also reduced one operational incentive to accept Northgate Blvd. as a public road.
