Redfield council adopts new water rates, effective Jan. 1, 2025

The Redfield City Council adopted Ordinance No. 04-2024 on Nov. 18, establishing updated water rates to take effect Jan. 1, 2025.
The ordinance sets a $14 monthly minimum charge that includes the first 1,000 gallons; additional water is billed at $14 per 1,000 gallons. In addition, the ordinance adds a $6-per-month fee to cover the WEB Water Association service payment and a $13.25-per-month fee to cover USDA bond payment billed to each active service. Services outside the city limits will be billed an additional 50 percent on water charges (except the WEB service payment). The city attorney and finance officer presented the ordinance language during the second reading and Mayor Frank Schwartz attested to the adoption.
Mike Siebrecht moved to adopt the water-rate ordinance; Jessi Lewis seconded and the motion carried on a roll-call vote with all members voting "Yes." The ordinance was recorded as adopted Nov. 18, 2024 and publication was scheduled.
