Trappe introduces FY 2025–26 budget ordinance, sets tax rates and trash fee

President Schmidt read Ordinance 1-2025 on April 2, which would adopt the Town of Trappe’s general budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025 and the enterprise budget for water and sewer operations, and establish tax rates and a residential trash fee.
The ordinance text as read includes “establishing a tax rate of $.33 per $100 of assessed real property value and a tax rate of $.75 per $100 on all commercial or business personal property and public utilities; and establishing an annual fee of $189.80 per residential household for trash collection services.” Commissioner Walter Chase moved to introduce the ordinance and Commissioner Jeremy Newnam seconded; the motion was approved unanimously. The Council scheduled a public hearing for Ordinance 1-2025 on May 7, 2025 at 5:45 pm.
If adopted after the public hearing, the ordinance will set the town’s tax rates and residential trash fee for the 2025–26 fiscal year and authorize the enterprise budgets for water and sewer operations.
