Council moves ordinance to second reading to remove inactive Class A‑1 liquor license

City staff reported that Craft on Seminary C Street ceased operations in December 2025, leaving one Class A‑1 liquor license unused, and recommended an ordinance amendment to remove that license from the city's inventory. "Staff recommends approval of an ordinance amending section 113.043(a) of chapter 113 of the Galesburg Municipal Code to reduce the number of available Class A‑1 liquor licenses," Mr. Hansen said, noting there is no budget impact.
Council member White made a motion to move the ordinance to second reading, and Mr. Saul seconded; the council then voted unanimously to advance the item. Staff noted interested parties may apply to the liquor commissioner and council for approval of a Class A‑1 license in the future if circumstances change.
