At its Nov. 3 meeting the Galesburg City Council recorded a series of routine and formal actions.
On unanimous votes the council approved minutes from Oct. 20, 2025, passed the consent agenda (items covering municipal compliance reports, a quarterly investment schedule, and warrants), and approved a final-reading ordinance implementing various rate and fee adjustments to take effect Jan. 1, 2026. Council also authorized two property purchases by resolution: 566 Hawthorne Court (purchase price stated as $813) and 1217 South Pearl Street (purchase price stated as $10,000). Both acquisitions were presented as steps to remove blight and stabilize neighborhoods and passed 7–0.
During the town-board portion of the meeting the board approved a set of minutes with a recorded vote of 6 yes and 1 abstention (Achara abstained). The determined tax levy and bills presented under town business also passed on recorded votes. No ordinances beyond the fee adjustments were adopted on final reading that evening; the 2025 property tax levy and the special service area levy were presented on first reading and will return for final action at a later meeting.
The council did not record any failed motions or tabling for the agenda items considered; staff indicated where items were first readings and would be scheduled for a subsequent vote.
