Committee reviews draft wildlife‑signage policy, suggests Conservancy Lands Commission review

Ben presented a draft wildlife‑crossing signage policy intended to create consistent guidelines for responding to resident and official requests. He said staff reached out for input from the DNR, park staff and the police department while preparing the draft and asked the committee for feedback or approval to move the item forward.
"We reached out to the DNR, park staff, and the police department to all kind of get their buy in and and feedback on this policy," Ben said. Committee members generally supported the proposal but asked that the Conservancy Lands Commission (CLC) also review it because many requests come from roads adjacent to conservancy lands; Ben said he would coordinate that referral and bring CLC comments back to the committee.
Why it matters: a written policy will give staff a consistent framework to evaluate and respond to wildlife‑sign requests and reduce ad hoc signage installations, especially near conserved lands.
