President Schmidt told the Council the Community Parks and Playgrounds Program awarded a full grant of $195,000 to install a softball field at Home Run Baker Park; the project is planned as a partnership among the Town, Talbot County and the Little League Association.
"The Town received notification from the Community Parks and Playgrounds Program that the grant application to install a softball field at Home Run Baker Park received a full grant in the amount of $195,000.00," President Schmidt said. The grant award is contingent on final approval by the Board of Public Works; Commissioner Newnam moved to accept the grant and the Council voted unanimously to proceed.
Council tasked staff with next steps to implement the grant project, subject to the Board of Public Works approval. No public comments were recorded on the grant at the hearing.
