Trappe council adopts FY2025–26 budget, sets tax rates and $189.80 trash fee

"An Ordinance of the Town of Trappe adopting a General Budget for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2025 and ending June 30, 2026, and establishing a tax rate of $0.33 per $100 of assessed real property value and a tax rate of $0.75 per $100 on all commercial or business personal property and public utilities; and establishing an annual fee of $189.80 per residential household for trash collection services," was read by President Schmidt. Commissioner Chase moved to adopt the ordinance; Commissioner Newnam seconded. The Council recorded unanimous votes: Newnam — Y; Sullivan — Y; Schmidt — Y; Potter — Y; Chase — Y.
The action sets the town's revenue and user-fee framework for the year starting July 1, 2025. Council members did not receive or record any public comment during the public hearing on the ordinance.
The budget adoption concluded one of the night's principal formal actions; the ordinance was on both the public hearing and regular meeting agendas and was moved to adoption after the hearing closed.
