Vernon Township trustees directed to negotiate 28E fire-protection agreements after board recess

Plecker reported that of the county's 14 townships, six — including Vernon Township — do not have 28E Agreements on file with the Iowa Secretary of State for fire protection and emergency response service.
Plecker explained that Vernon Township currently assesses taxes on behalf of the Bonaparte Fire Department and the Keosauqua Fire Department, splitting the revenue 50/50, and that the trustees directed her to contact both departments to arrange meetings to develop 28E Agreements. The recess ended at 10:49 AM when the Board resumed county business. No final 28E Agreement was approved at this session.
