Dune Deck operator welcomes rebuild but raises delivery, tree-preservation and access questions

Daisy Penaive, who identified herself as representing the Dune Deck Cafe, said the existing structure needs rebuilding and welcomed a new facility, but she asked whether the plan could be designed around three curved palm trees that have long been part of the site’s character. She also asked how heavy deliveries and vendor loading would be handled under the proposed promenade and whether delivery vehicles would damage walkways.
Consultants said they had discussed the trees with the planning team and consider the palms an asset to preserve where possible; they noted palms are relatively straightforward to relocate if necessary. The team also said the intent is to use existing loading areas and that, if a northern parking lot or other changes are pursued, a secondary loading location could be considered to reduce haul distance to the Dune Deck. "We can try to build around as much as possible," Eric Harrison said about the palms.
