The Chawanakee Unified School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously March 10 to approve the district's Second Interim Budget report for 2025–26. Chief Business Officer Melissa Kielpinski told trustees the report will be submitted to the county office with a "positive" self‑certification.
Kielpinski presented the district's key figures, saying, "Based upon current projections, we will meet our financial obligations for the current fiscal year and subsequent two fiscal years and maintain a minimum of 3% reserve for economic uncertainties." She cited Total General Fund Revenue of $19,952,853.10, Total General Fund Expenditures of $20,034,009.24 and a net decrease in fund balance of $81,156.14; unrestricted reserves were reported at $801,361 (about 4%). The motion to approve was made by Trustee Seth Waltner and seconded by Trustee Elisabeth Parish; the board voted 5–0.
The board's action is procedural for county submission; Kielpinski emphasized the district is keeping enrollment and revenue projections conservative. No follow‑up direction or contingent actions were recorded during the meeting.
