Commission adopts resolution O80326 lowering speed limits on three township roads
Summary

Raleigh County Public Works presented a speed study for roads south of Eureka Drive and recommended reduced posted limits after finding the study's 85th-percentile speeds were around 22–23 miles per hour. The board adopted resolution O80326 to declare reasonable and safe maximum speed limits for Rover Road, Angie Drive, and Daniel Avenue.
Public-works staff explained standard practice is to use the 85th-percentile recorded speed to set limits, and recommended a 20-mph limit for the gravel road segments. As staff put it, "For this study, that speed was around 22 to 23 miles per hour." Commissioner 4 moved to adopt the resolution, the motion was seconded and the commission approved it; the chair was directed to sign the resolution.
The change applies to township roads with gravel surfaces and will be posted by county crews following adoption of the resolution.
