Sarah Stevens, Duke Energy's new district manager for government and community relations, introduced herself to the board and said she will be the county's point of contact. Stevens told commissioners she is two weeks into the role and looks forward to working with county officials.
"My name is Sarah Stevens. No stranger to this space. But I am making my rounds... I am now your point of contact for Duke Energy. I am the district manager for government and community relations and the district manager is over Durham, Orange, Chatham, and Lee Counties," Stevens said. She asked for patience as she settles in and thanked commissioners for their welcome.
Why it matters: Duke Energy is a major utility provider for the county; having a named district manager provides a single point of contact for local government coordination on service issues and community relations. Stevens did not discuss specific projects or contracts at this meeting.
