Centennial student Harland Triplett honored; writes that 'Centennial High School works for me'

The California Continuation Education Association Plus (CCEA Plus) State Award Committee selected Centennial student Harland Triplett for an Honorable Mention in the 2025 Student Essay Contest and invited him and a guest to the Professional Awards Luncheon on April 25, 2025 in San Diego.
Triplett's submitted essay — included in the meeting packet — explains why Centennial works for him: "Centennial High School works for me because of the level of security, the adaptability of the staff, the respect the staff gives to the students, and the equality in the treatment of the students." He described Centennial as a small campus of 68 students, where staff provide alternative assignments and support and where he feels respected rather than treated as suspect.
The board packet also recorded local recognition and other student awards; staff asked the board to celebrate Triplett's award and to allow his attendance at the luncheon. The invitation and the essay were included in the public materials.
