Board files Prop 28 arts and music report; SCOE not required to report dollars due to enrollment size
Summary
Staff presented SCOE's Prop 28 reporting form and explained that because SCOE has fewer than 500 students it is not required to report a dollar amount for some local indicators; trustees approved the form to maintain continuous funding.

Staff briefed the board on SCOE’s required reporting under Proposition 28, the Arts and Music in Schools Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act. The statute was approved by voters on Nov. 8, 2022, to provide minimum annual funding for K–12 arts and music programs.
Because the county office serves fewer than 500 students for the purpose of the indicator, some reporting fields show zero. Staff said SCOE used available Prop 28 funds to support arts and music activities at Golden Hills and within special education programming through consultants and guest music instruction, and that reporting will be used to inform future program improvements. Trustees voted to approve the report form for submission to ensure continued eligibility.
What’s next: Staff will include a narrative of how Prop 28 funds were used and propose improvements to services in future reports.
