Council members voted to use the remaining proceeds from the public-surplus auction—$18,490—to pursue purchasing a used farm tractor for roadside and maintenance tasks.
"So I made a motion that we use the remaining $18,490 of selling surplus equipment to pursue a used farm tractor for high maintenance," Committee member (Speaker 4) said. Staff explained the tractor would be used for roadside mowing, PTO work and as a backup for winter operations; council members said buying used is appropriate given timing and market conditions.
Council approved the motion by roll call. Staff noted there is an additional $2,000 budgeted this year for tractor rental and that the $18,490 may act as a purchasing target while allowing a small buffer if a suitable unit is slightly above that figure.
