The council authorized purchasing a replacement park lawn mower after public-works staff presented options and prices for two makes and sizes.
"The current lawnmower is over 20 years old," Staff member Jack (Speaker 6) said, arguing the unit should be replaced before it fails. Staff compared a Ferris model and a Walker model and recommended the Ferris for park use. Committee member (Speaker 4) moved to approve the Ferris mower purchase at a stated price drawn from surplus-auction proceeds; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote followed by a roll call for the money motion.
The council approved the purchase price (stated in the meeting as $17,744.11) and confirmed the funds come from public-surplus auction proceeds. Staff said the mower will be used primarily at City Park and on city properties around University Hall.
