Chatom and Mountain View principals report expanded-learning launches and campus updates

At the Oct. 14 meeting Chatom Elementary Principal Sara Cruz told trustees the school launched expanded-learning after-school programs this month, adding a STEM class and extra days for a popular cooking class; the new portable classroom for the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) is in use. Principal Cruz also announced the Every Day Counts attendance campaign and said October’s character trait focus is courage.
Mountain View Middle School Principal Lauren Lanum reported small student support groups have begun and that a new bilingual paraeducator is supporting campus needs; she previewed Summit Day, Red Ribbon Week, a Halloween dance and an 8th-grade math and science field trip to Levi’s Stadium. The meeting also included a brief report from Food Service Director Kasidi Barcelos on a student menu survey.
