Residents press Farmingdale trustees on Main Street walkability, parking and late-night noise

Multiple residents used the public-comment period to press the Board about downtown pedestrian safety and related quality-of-life concerns. A resident urged bump-outs at crosswalks, traffic-calming measures, overhead crosswalk signs and speed meters, and proposed defined pathways from parking lots to Main Street. Mayor Ralph Ekstrand said the village had spoken to Nassau County and that a New York State code review and a complete street study had shown no concerns.

Residents also raised complaints about employees parking and blocking corners on Waverly Place and Conklin Street; the record states Code Enforcement will increase visits. Other public comments included a question about 'No Turn on Red' signage at Main and Fulton (the mayor said the placement was done by the state), a request for an H2M update on the Linwood project (no update available), reminders that peddler permits are required for vendors, and reports of late-night noise from a post-incident Fire Department response and DJs at the Nutty Irishman; Code will monitor and enforce as needed.
