Board recognizes state spelling bee competitor and EnvironMentors international award winner

The board celebrated student achievements: a Williams Upper Elementary fifth grader, Esteban, advanced to round three of five at the California State Elementary Spelling Bee (46 competitors), and a Colusa High School EnvironMentors recipient won a Global Council for Science and the Environment award and will represent the school in Panama.
The board used the Letters and Communications portion of its May 13 meeting to recognize two student achievements. Alissa Maas reported that a fifth-grade student from Williams Upper Elementary, Esteban, represented Colusa County at the California State Elementary Spelling Bee and advanced to round three of five out of 46 competitors. Chuck Wayman and staff presented a certificate to a Colusa High School student who received a Global Council for Science and the Environment (GCSE) EnvironMentors award and will represent Colusa High School internationally in Panama.
Board members congratulated the students and recognized the district and staff who supported them. The recognitions were presented publicly to honor student academic and environmental accomplishments.
