Commission approves consent-agenda road projects and annexation handoffs after discussion on turn lanes and maintenance

Public Works Director Lynn Packer outlined a broader annexation effort in which staff worked with 14 cities over roughly 12 months to transfer ownership or maintenance responsibility for about 27 miles of road currently on the county system; Packer said the transfers are intended to reduce county maintenance load and were negotiated so cities take on roads in good condition. Commissioners raised concerns about other high-need roads and asked for follow-up; after discussion the board approved the pulled consent items by roll call.
