Board approves most shop/classroom change orders, denies ground-box item

The Governing Board considered a series of construction change orders for the Corning High School shop and classroom additions and approved change orders 1–18 and 20 while rejecting item #19, which involved installing traffic-rated ground boxes in the sidewalk area.
Board members and the project manager, Zane Schrader, discussed item #20 (cost approximately $19,000) and agreed it included guttering and wrap that would improve longevity. Trustee Jim Bingham supported the wrap as a longevity measure; members also flagged additional paving and repaving needs — particularly where ramps meet older parking — that will require separate scheduling and funding.
The motion to approve the recommended change orders (excluding #19) was moved by Larry Glover, seconded by Cody Lamb and passed unanimously among members present. Board staff and the contractor will coordinate follow-up details on trenching, storm-drain adjustments and pavement repairs.
