Board approves $95,000 architectural contract for culinary classroom; grant funds to pay fee

The Corning Union High School District board on May 15 approved an agreement for architectural services to design the Culinary Arts classroom remodel. The fixed fee is $95,000 plus a reimbursable allowance of $1,500; invoices will be billed monthly on accumulated charges.
The motion to approve the contract was made by Larry Glover and seconded by Cody Lamb. Superintendent Miguel Barriga told the board the work will be funded through Strong Workforce and Golden State grants. The board voted unanimously among members present to approve the agreement.
The architect will prepare design documents, coordinate mechanical/plumbing/electrical consultants, submit plans to the Division of the State Architect (DSA) for approval, and provide construction administration through final DSA certification. The board and staff emphasized the remodel supports Career Technical Education (CTE) culinary programming and student career pathways.
