The Belvidere City Council approved a set of ordinances and plats clearing the Eastpointe (East Point Commons) subdivision for development. On second reading the council adopted Ordinance 775H (zoning to Planned Business), Ordinance 776H (zoning to Planned Industrial), Ordinance 777H (preliminary plat) and Ordinance 770H (final plat 1). Each motion was seconded and approved by unanimous roll-call votes.
Council discussion was limited but included confirmation from staff and the applicant's representative that the industrial portions are intended for indoor operations and warehousing and that multifamily housing would require separate rezoning. The council characterized the package as enabling investment, jobs and sales‑tax revenue along the U.S. 20 growth corridor. All four items passed 9–0 on roll-call votes.
