The Clarksville Board of Zoning Appeals voted Sept. 24 to formally table SE25002, a special-exception request for multifamily development at 704 Providence Way, after staff confirmed public notice had already been distributed.
Chair (speaker 3) explained the procedural constraint and asked the board for a motion "so you all understand that we have to the action we take tonight is to officially table this item." Staff (speaker 4) told the board the item had been submitted for this meeting but "it was done so after we had already sent out public notice. So because notice was sent out, we do have to take a formal vote to table it." Committee member (speaker 5) moved to table; a second was recorded and the motion carried on a voice vote.
Because the town had met notice requirements, the board said it could not simply remove the item from the agenda without a formal vote. The tabling preserves the record and allows staff and petitioners to address outstanding procedural or substantive matters before the petition returns. The item will be re-listed on the BZA agenda when staff and the petitioner reconvene to provide any additional materials and outreach.
