Craig Ranch expansion, regional tournaments bring thousands to North Las Vegas parks

Erin Reiswerg described a planned 20-acre addition to Craig Ranch Regional Park (on Camino El Norte) that will add playgrounds, a splash pad, pickleball courts, restrooms, shaded picnic areas, pathways and a pedestrian and vehicular bridge to connect new acreage to the existing park. "The new 20 acres will be added on Camino El Norte... it will also include a pedestrian and vehicular bridge that connects this new piece to the existing park," Reiswerg said.
Doug Veil provided attendance figures for recent and upcoming tournaments at Craig Ranch's multipurpose fields. He said last weekend's flag-football event had "over 7,500 in attendance," and he expected "7,500 to 10,000 per day" for a subsequent presidents-weekend regional tournament. Board members noted the positive effects on nearby businesses along Craig Road and discussed adding parking capacity and other amenities to support large events.
Reiswerg also noted the AMP roof replacement at Craig Ranch is nearly complete and that Cheyenne Sports Complex parking lots are being paved with planned completion in March. Board members requested project plans and asked that site renderings be presented at a future meeting.
