Notus council approves public survey on compression-brake (Jake brake) noise; Conway Road posted at 35 MPH

The council approved a public outreach effort to survey residents about compression-brake (commonly called "Jake brake") noise ordinances. Mayor David Porterfield proposed the survey; Councilmembers Blaide Connor and Lupita Connor supported it. Council President Rob Hartsock noted that signage outside city limits along Hwy 20/26 would require coordination with county commissioners. Hartsock moved to conduct the public outreach with a public-comment section; B. Connor seconded and the vote was unanimous.
Separately, Hartsock and local property owner Wayne Brown reported they met with the Notus-Parma Highway District about Conway Road traffic and speed. As a result, Conway Road from Hwy 20/26 to Purple Sage has been posted with 35 MPH signage in both directions, the council said. No ordinance action or enforcement plan beyond signage was recorded at the meeting.
