Finance Director Beverly Ciurylo updated the Fiscal Policy Committee on a PFAS water filtration project for the Board of Education building, telling members installation is narrowly scheduled.
"installation of the BOE building for the water filtration system is expected around the 21st. She also noted that approximately $75-100,000 would be needed for the school system implementation," Ciurylo said. She added that recent HVAC reimbursements for fire monitors would contribute roughly $7,500 to BOE leftover funds that could be applied to the PFAS project.
Committee members discussed available town funds that could be allocated to the town’s PFAS work when a purchase order is initiated. First Selectman Steven Everett asked that state officials — Senator Cathy Osten, State Representative Tim Ackert and State Attorney William Tong — be kept apprised of the town’s expenditures on the project.
The committee did not take a formal funding vote at the meeting; staff said firm financial numbers and anticipated transfers will be shared as year‑end accounting concludes.
