The council moved administrative business forward by confirming a new finance manager and planning next steps for the city clerk appointment and capital-project updates.
Short announced the hire of a finance manager: “Her name is Carrie Kroger. She is a CPA, and she started yesterday.” The city clerk appointment had not been completed; staff said the clerk would start the day after appointment or on Feb. 9, whichever is later. Council discussed scheduling a special meeting (proposed for Feb. 10) where staff will present the quarterly financial statements through December, capital-project updates (water tank and bike-and-skate park), and an MOU and resolution with the Mountain Bike Tribal Trail Alliance; staff said some items could be deferred to shorten the special meeting.
Council asked staff to prepare the financial packet and the oath of office for the clerk and indicated willingness to hold more frequent meetings if necessary to handle the workload.
