Council seeks drainage planning and GIS capacity as Powers Creek grant outcome narrows

Andrew Short described work to secure a GIS license so the city can house sewer and drainage data in a common coordinate system and better evaluate elevations, pipe sizes and project needs. On Powers Creek, Short said a Fish and Wildlife grant application was denied and “there's only the prop 4 left at this point to do the next phase,” leaving limited options for construction funding. Councilmembers urged staff to bring back proposals for both emergency mitigations and longer-term drainage planning so the community can understand next steps.
Staff will add drainage/GIS as a future presentation and explore short-term mitigations while pursuing remaining grant options for restoration work.
