The Blue Lake City Council on Jan. 20 adopted Resolution 12‑49 accepting certified results from the special municipal recall election held Jan. 6, 2026.
City manager Jenny Short told the council the certified tally was "yeses of 176 and noes of 220," and said staff would file the adopted measure with the secretary of state as required. Short also noted the office of elections helped control outside costs and that staff used flex time, reducing the total cost compared with earlier estimates.
During public comment Adeline Jones said the turnout appeared low and observed the result was not a large margin: "Out of the 220 votes no and 176 vote yes, that's a difference of 44 votes, which I might add is not a mandate, not a landslide." Other residents thanked election staff for keeping costs down.
The council approved the resolution by voice vote and directed the city clerk to file the certification with state offices according to the motion’s language invoking sections of the government code cited by the acting clerk.
