Resident asks whether Medley will strain Fulton County schools; staff says schools have capacity

During public input on the Medley project, resident Anish Ratty Sankar Matti asked whether the development would increase the student population and require a new school or other school‑capacity solutions.
City staff member Ruchi Agarwal responded that Fulton County Schools was contacted during the rezoning review and provided enrollment factors; staff said the district concluded local elementary, middle and high schools in the area are currently under capacity and would remain so after the development's projected units are occupied. "So, based on their enrollment historically, they have a factor of how many kids will be students will be added... and what they found in that is that the schools unfortunately are under capacity right now at all 3 levels and even with this development, they will still remain under capacity," Agarwal said. Agarwal also noted multifamily housing often produces a lower student ratio than single‑family detached homes and that the units are expected to be rented by young professionals and adults as well as some families.
The board did not take further action; staff offered to follow up if the resident wanted additional documentation.
