Johns Creek honored for town center work; boardwalk park construction on schedule

Johns Creek officials celebrated three awards on Nov. 17 recognizing the ongoing transformation of the Johns Creek Town Center. City Manager Stacy Greer said the International Economic Development Council gave an excellence award for real estate redevelopment, the Atlanta Regional Commission presented a regional excellence award, and the Metro Atlanta Redevelopment Summit (MARS) honored the boardwalk as redevelopment project of the year.
Greer credited the awards to public-private partnership and sustained city investment in intersection improvements, trails and the boardwalk park behind City Hall: "This award recognizes the city's effort to partner with the private sector and make Johns Creek's Town Center a destination," Greer said. Assistant City Manager Chris Haggard, Community Development Director Ben Song and Economic Development Director Kim Allontz were recognized for their roles. Greer reiterated that construction of the boardwalk park remains on schedule to open in the summer of 2026 and that contractors have reduced their staging footprint as work progresses.
Council members and staff thanked the teams involved and noted the awards reflect years of planning and implementation. The presentation emphasized the combination of public infrastructure and private sector redevelopment as the reason the town center has transitioned into a walkable district and a community destination.
