Director Erica Matson outlined the proposed 2026 special‑events calendar and several venue changes, saying, "We're bringing back all of the community favorites as well as our cultural events." She asked council for confirmation on locations and timing for Independence Day, the Boardwalk grand opening and proposed changes to the arts festival and Diwali celebration.
Council members raised concerns about staff bandwidth, parking and the timing of Diwali and the Boardwalk grand opening. Staff noted parking capacity and deeded spaces near City Hall and said planning teams would work with public safety on logistics. Council gave staff consensus to approve the yearlong calendar and to continue refining details; as one council member put it, "Let's go ahead and pass the whole year."
