The Fenton Planning Commission approved Special Land Use PSLU26-0002 on April 23 to allow outdoor storage and operations for Dirt Works Equipment Rental at 2408 S. Long Lake Road. OHM Advisors’ review recommended approval subject to site plan approval, paving the entry drive from South Long Lake Road to the first telephone/power pole, compliance with screening and lighting requirements, review by other consultants/departments, and clarification on on-site fueling. Commissioner Siwik moved to approve the special land use based on OHM Advisors’ recommendations; the motion passed 6–0.
Applicant Brandon Bidus, representing Dirt Works Equipment, said he agreed with the conditions and stated that entry paving "has already been addressed and completed." Owner Steve Tabor, who lives at the site address, told the commission the equipment would be stored behind a six-foot fence and would not be visible from the road. The public hearing drew one speaker (the owner); no opposition was recorded.
The approval allows the applicant to proceed to the site plan review and building/permit process subject to the listed conditions; staff will confirm details such as screening, lighting, removal or relocation of outdoor storage outside the approved gravel area, and any approvals required for fuel storage.
