The Calumet County Veterans Service Commission agreed March 18 to support a 56-year-old veteran by signing a financial application to provide $1,300 in rental and utilities assistance. Michelle Wynveen, PhD, the county’s Veterans Service Officer, presented the request and the commission approved providing the assistance during the meeting.
Wynveen reviewed other recent assistance the office helped coordinate since the November 2025 meeting, including a roughly $500 car-payment aid and about $300 in utility assistance provided with support from Calumet VFW Post 3158, and a roughly $4,000 mortgage-assistance case aided by a nonprofit identified in the minutes as Evan’s Polishing. The commission scheduled its next meeting for April 15, 2026; the minutes record the action to support the $1,300 application but do not list a formal mover or recorded roll-call vote for that item.
