Fort Pierce commission approves ordinances, HUD plans and multiple board appointments
Summary
On Aug. 3 the commission approved Ordinance 26‑015 (contractors board procedures), accepted HUD CDBG plans for 2026 and 2026–2030, authorized an FPRA interlocal for Sunrise Center improvements, and appointed or reappointed members to several advisory boards and commissions.
The City Commission completed multiple noncontroversial legislative and administrative items at the Aug. 3 meeting.
Key actions included:
- Second reading and approval of Ordinance 26‑015 amending contractor board appointment procedures. - Acceptance and authorization to submit the 2026 Annual Action Plan and the 2026–2030 Consolidated Plan and Citizen Participation Plan to HUD (resolutions 26‑R‑43, 26‑R‑44, 26‑R‑45). - An interlocal agreement with the Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency to fund the Sunrise Center elevator and public art improvements (26‑R‑47). - Multiple board and advisory appointments and reappointments, including police officers retirement fund reappointment of Carlos Villanueva, appointments to the youth advisory council, planning board appointments and reappointments to historic preservation and arts & culture advisory boards.
