Sylvania applies for Lake Erie West grants for roundabout and street projects

Service Director Joe Shaw told council the city will submit multiple grant applications to Lake Erie West for transportation improvements, including a CMAQ application and Surface Transportation program submissions.
Shaw said the CMAQ application requests $1,363,774 toward the Centennial Road and Little Road roundabout, covering just under 61% of an estimated $2,200,000 project. "So, the request for this particular project is $1,363,774 that would cover just under 61% of the project cost," Shaw said. Council passed Resolution 8-2026 to authorize filing the CMAQ application.
Shaw also proposed Surface Transportation small-project asks for Erie Street resurfacing (total cost $479,771; request $319,817, ~67%) and for Main Street reconstruction (total $1,080,144; request $625,000). Council authorized filing the corresponding resolutions (9–11-2026) so staff can pursue available funding; Shaw said any remaining local match would be pursued through OPWC or later budget action if needed.
