Chesterfield County council advances ordinance authorizing sale of Highway 9 parcel to rural water provider

Chesterfield County Council held and closed a public hearing Aug. 3 on an ordinance authorizing the sale of county-owned property at a Highway 9 corner to Chesterfield County Rural Water. Chair Anderson opened the hearing, invited public comment and, when none was offered, asked for motion to close the hearing and then to advance the ordinance.
The council moved, seconded and voted to authorize the sale; Chair Anderson said the property was appraised but noted the appraisal amount was not disclosed in the meeting. The council directed staff to forward the materials to finance for formal recommendation and said the matter will return to the council for final action.
